The
Cut Family Foundation is a non-partisan musical think-tank
endeavoring to service the length and breadth of the industry
spectrum. At The Cut Family Foundation, we believe
that all things are works in progress. It is an attitude
that has led the members of The Foundation to a true spirit
of collaboration, free from conventions, inhibitions, and
use of the word “too.” The Cut Family Foundation
is dedicated to applying this philosophy to the art of
creating music.
Hence, The Foundation is “non-partisan” in
the sense that it does not make distinctions or value judgments
based on what modern media and market forces call genre. Yet,
the human brain intrinsically compares and contrasts, so
in a word, The Cut Family Foundation is funky. Specializing
in crafting beats for hip-hop, providing the canvas for
your local DJ, and catering to the funk bone which is located
in all of us, the faculty members draw on some three decades
of constant study, performance, and perhaps most important,
listening of music of all stripe and distill it into a
unique take on what is musically possible.
In more concrete terms, The Cut Family Foundation offers
works of music to the consumer, either for their private
listening enjoyment, or to be used in their own works of
musical or film art, which are subject to rigorous standards
of high musicianship, including instrumental proficiency
and theoretical understanding.
Music is a subjective, nebulous medium and we, as a soulful
and intellectually driven think tank, are determined to
explore as many of its nebulae as can be discovered. The
results of this pursuit (whether it be the deepest of “boom-bip” 808
drum beats, or a pseudo-gospel inflected sing along) we
offer to you.
